a Web site that contains an online personal journal with reflections, comments, and often hyperlinks provided by the writer; also : the contents of such a site— blog verb— blog·ger noun— blog·ging noun
And here, my friends, is where this specific blog comes in.
My friends and I (we'll make a post introducing ourselves at a later date) have noticed that young adults are not being given the attention they need when it comes to the arts. So many musicians, poets, and artists exist out there in this big, beautiful world, and we want to showcase their talents. Once or twice or maybe even three times a week (we haven't decided yet, this project is pretty unorganized), this blog will feature those who are devoted to making the world beautiful. Don't get us wrong; we are no exception to the social networking trend. I talked about eating pita chips the other day on my twitter. Our goal isn't to look down on someone's choice of internet use, but rather to try and create a place where artists from all planes can submit their work. We'll post our own work; the work of artists, writers, musicians, actors, etc.; and anything that YOU send to us. The goal is to use the power of the internet to catalyze creativity.
If you think we're insane, good. We think we're insane, too. Let's be insane together.

Let me know what you think. Also, great start to the site, I really like the idea/message.
Woops, I already found a typo. Here's a link to the fixed version: http://www.pdfhost.net/index.php?Action=Download&File=009c675902df7bd489a1ec6023a7c20c
DeleteThank you so much for posting this! We'd love it if we could feature you as one of our artists. If you're comfortable being posted on the blog, please e-mail us with your other work and some information! If not, we'll make sure this gets posted anonymously on the site.
DeleteAwesome, thanks! I'd love to be featured on the site, but I'd rather remain anonymous, at least for now. I'll send you more stuff whenever I have something worth sending in. I'm not sure how you'll know it's me, but oh well...
DeleteThanks again!
I'm disappointed to see that the creators of this blog cannot handle any criticism. The same writers that laud the freedom and empowerment of the internet are quick to censor a constructive, well thought out comment from one of their readers. If these writers want to truly aid with the enlightenment of their fellow adolescents, they should use this comment section as a powerful discussion board where others can input their own suggestions. Otherwise I'm afraid that this blog will simply become another feel good site where these toadies can pat themselves on the back for mediocre accomplishments. If you are serious about enlightening teenagers, I hope that you will take this advice into some consideration instead of deleting it immediately. Undertakings like this have immense potential, but they can all too easily carry on down the wrong path. Use this blog as a place of discussion, not just an artsy hipster showcase "circle jerk."
ReplyDeleteAnonymous,
DeleteThanks for the post, but as we said on the home page, our goal isn't too look down on anyone or enlighten. the point it to showcase artists and poets and musicians in our age group, because there is so much talent! Again, thanks for the post, but understand our intention is in no way to "enlighten" anybody. It's merely a tool for spreading various forms of creativity.
Hope you submit some work.

We appreciate your feedback, and wholeheartedly agree. However, we believe that in order for an educated discussion to occur, there must be a willingness to hold level-headed conversation. The comment was deleted because, honestly, it was vulgar and rude. We value freedom of expression, but we do not value hatred and condescension. That is why the comment was deleted. We agree with you that we don't want this site to become another annoying "hipster" blog, and so we are doing our best to avoid that. The best thing for you and the rest of our readers to do is to promote discussion in a way that values the opinions of all the readers without making people feel hurt and unappreciated.
DeleteI really, really like the fact that this person was able to use the word "toadies" in an effective manner. Bravo.
DeleteI applaud this idea. Kudos to you all. The internet's most powerful tools: instant interaction with people you may not know, the posting of pictures and sentences in the blink of an eye, and the immediate sharing of knowledge, certainly has a niche in twitter hashtags and facebook statuses. That is a fine recreational area for these resources, but it shouldn't be its only home.
ReplyDeleteKeep this internevolutionary ideas coming. Here's my submission:
